The Huntington Society of Canada (HSC) is bringing its biennial conference home with its inaugural virtual conference.

“We know how much our community looks forward to this conference, and we’re committed to exceeding expectations with the interactive experience,” said Shelly Redman, HSC’s new CEO, of the March 27 virtual conference. “At the same, time, we are pleased to be able to reach more attendees than ever before by offering the conference for free—both financial and geographic hurdles are eliminated.”

The conference will feature presentations from motivational speakers, researchers in the field of Huntington disease (a progressive brain disorder than causes uncontrolled movements and loss of cognition). A session specifically targeting youth facing Huntington disease is indicative of the emphasis HSC places on fostering engagement with this population. Conference organizers place equal emphasis on recreating the sense of community fostered by the conference, with breakout sessions to allow members of the Huntington community to reconnect and make new friends.

“We’re not going to bypass the socializing or interactive Q&A aspect of the conference,” added Redman.

A virtual trade show will also connect conference-goers with resources. More information about the conference, including how to register, click here.
